As part of the German-Chilean project Freund Stein / El amigo piedra, Nikola Lutz (Stuttgart / Germany) and César Bernal (Valparaíso / Chile) meet in the ensemble fra(c)tura. Despite the physical distance, they form the duo YonX. The central ensemble concept is the exploration of the space between composition and improvisation.
2019
Tour Germany, Chile and Peru with compositions by Remmy Canedo and Fernando Munizaga as well as improvisational encounters. YonX publishes improvisations with double bass / saxophone and the very rarely played sarrusophone and performs at the opening of the concert series out of the box in the town hall Leonberg.

A CD is produced under the name fra(c)tura, in which the duo record the composition El perro amarillo by Nikola Lutz. Due to the pandemic, analog projects cannot take place, but with the production remote, procedures for online collaboration are created instead. YonX is developing the two video pieces remote I and remote II, published in a live stream together with international live improvisations and a discussion forum with speakers from Germany, Peru and Chile on the SKAMventskalender platform.

2022
onX receives a grant from the Musikfonds for the MadMap project with film recordings and site-specific research in Berlin, Stuttgart and Hildesheim as well as performances in Stuttgart and Bremen. YonX develops a multimedia approach, with Nikola Lutz appearing with live video and film works. The reflections from the MadMap project expand the working style of YonX in the long term. Presentation of the online space yonx_madmap on 17.07.22 in the living archive of open working methods in the documenta archiv in Kassel.
Tour in Chile, Mexico and the USA with concerts at the Festival Darwin Vargas, the Ciclo de música electroacústica in Valdivia, the Festival Expresiones Contemporáneas in Mexico City and concerts and workshops at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
