NIKOLA LUTZ

Do I still look like myself?

The installation plays with the theme of the digitality of the body. Fragments of a fingerprint, distorted into the gigantic, attached to still familiar historical data carriers, zoom into biometric structures. Behind a clean surface, the installation thematizes biometric techniques that measure our bodies in ever tighter loops and doesn’t stop at its surface. What is still outside here, where does the inside begin, and how deeply does surveillance technology creep into our pores?

As an aside, Do I still look like myself? through a central QR code, is also a fully functional digital work of art that leads us back to ourselves again and again.

Installation (17 vinyl records, foam rubber, glue, other materials) 2021
